Music festival to take to skies of Lethbridge

The Wide Skies Music Festival will return to Lethbridge this July, with musical performances taking place five stories above the ground.

The festival is hosted by the Geomatic Attic, an organization that presents concerts in unique locales. The Wide Skies festival is hosted on the fifth floor of the Lethbridge Park N Ride, transformed into a concert venue for two nights. The first night will feature performances by acclaimed Alberta singer-songwriter JJ Shiplett and Juno-winning singer Caleigh Cardinal. The second set of artists include award-winning Canadian blues band Monkeyjunk and popular alternative singer-songwriter Terra Lightfoot. Each night will also feature an opening act, for a total of three performances per night.

The festival will include a beer garden area and food items for sale, including food from The Italian Table and Two Guys Pizza. Organizers aim to create an event with a small environmental footprint, and encourage attendees to walk, bike, or take public transit to the event, as well as to avoid leaving waste behind. Visitors can also bring small chairs and blankets. Concerts and small festivals such as this often use promotional tools like flyer printing and local broadcast advertising to reach a wide range of music fans.

The 2024 Wide Skies Music Festival will take place on July 30 and 31 at the Lethbridge Park N Ride.
