Lethbridge to host junior hockey showdown
The Canadian Hockey League will be bringing a special all-star showcase in Lethbridge this November, with the league’s top Canadian prospects taking on the top American prospects head-to-head.
The CHL USA Prospects Challenge pits a CHL all-star team, including talents from the WHL, OHL, and QMJHL, against the US National Under-18 Team. The Lethbridge showdown will be the second of two games in the series, with the first hosted in the United States. All selected CHL players will be eligible for the 2026 NHL draft, with many professional scouts usually in attendance alongside fans looking to see their team’s next potential superstar.
Lethbridge’s own WHL side Hurricanes will act as the hosts for this event, providing assistance in staging and promoting the game. Youth sports events like this often use methods like poster printing and local broadcast advertising to attract sports fans.
The CHL USA Prospects Challenge is a new addition to the minor hockey calendar, having held its inaugural edition last year, in which the CHL team won both games. The event is organized in part by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau, who select the players for the CHL team. This year’s team is expected to include many top draft picks, with last year’s team including 3 of the top 5 picks.
Game 2 of the 2025 CHL USA Prospects Challenge will take place in Lethbridge on November 26 at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena.
