Lethbridge to enjoy end-of-summer festival

One of the longest-running summer celebrations will be back in Alberta this summer as Whoop-Up Days return to Lethbridge.

The Whoop-Up Days festival kicks off with a parade through downtown Lethbridge, with both local organizations and businesses represented. Parades such as these typically use banner printing and special vehicles to add to the pageantry. The bulk of the event will be a fair with several attractions to explore.

This year will include a special Indigenous cultural celebration and a new La Galleria art showcase. The YQL Beach area will aim to create the atmosphere of a raucous beach party indoors.

Whoop-Up Days will also have a full carnival complete with classic rides and midway games. A Mini-Carnival area aimed at kids will cater to the families in attendance. There will also be numerous food and drink trucks on hand providing a chance to sample flavours from across Southern Alberta. Also returning this year will be a professionally sanctioned CPRA rodeo, with high-level riders competing in a variety of events. Rodeo has been one of the main attractions of Whoop-Up Days throughout its 125-year existence. Past editions of the event have also included daily concerts, a trade show and citywide pancake breakfasts.

The 2022 version of Whoop-Up Days will take place at the Lethbridge & District Exhibition between August 23 and 27.
