Lethbridge men invited to step against domestic violence

Men from Lethbridge have been issued a challenge that will test their balance while raising funds and awareness about domestic violence.

The YMCA will be hosting its Walk a Mile in Her Shoes annual fundraising walk to help support its efforts to break the cycle of domestic violence and keep women and children protected. The men who choose to take part will be asked to don a pair of high heels and take part in a one-mile wobbling walk.

While only men will be able to participate in the actual activity, the support of women is also being sought. They can serve as volunteers and also encourage the men in their lives to take part. The organizers have requested that the men wear what they normally would on a typical work day, and everyone is welcome to come out and cheer them on. Reusable pop up Banners and other decorations for an annual event such as this can be supplied by a local printer.

The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes activity has been planned for September 22nd, and it will be held in Galt Gardens. The event is being brought to the community thanks, in part, to the assistance of Shoppers Drug Mart as well as other sponsors. More information, as well as an opportunity to register, can be found on the fundraiser’s website.
