A Lethbridge-area event will look to celebrate National Philanthropy Day this November by honouring those who give back to the Southern Alberta community.
The event will be a luncheon and awards ceremony hosted by the Community Foundation of Lethbridge & Southwestern Alberta. Awards will be given out in the categories of Corporate, Individual, Group, Small Business and Youth Philanthropist.
It is the fifth annual event hosted by the Community Foundation, one of the oldest such organizations in the country, and the local chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, which promotes National Philanthropy Day. The group aims to promote philanthropy from both businesses and private citizens to help build community.
Recipients of the awards were announced on September 20 at Lethbridge City Hall. They included the family of Humboldt Broncos player, Logan Boulet for their work with KidSport, three individuals for their help with the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization, Mike Marcotte and Prime Catering of the STARS Foundation, Eli Carter of the Queer Impact Club, and the Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club.
Philanthropic events help to bring the community together as well as provide an opportunity for local businesses and non-profits to network, with Business Cards and promotional Pens sometimes being exchanged along with awards and applause.
The awards luncheon will take place at the Sandman Lethbridge Lodge on November 14. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance.Get a Free Quote for Business Cards Get a Free Quote for Pens
