Lethbridge initiative aims to raise money for local business

The Lethbridge Chamber of Commerce has launched a new campaign, with the goal of providing grants to struggling businesses.

The Chamber will be selling T-Shirts using the “Won’t Blow Over” slogan, with all proceeds going to grants for local small enterprises. The project is a collaboration with Inspire Marketing & Media and Fully Promoted. Every $1,000 raised will go to a different business in need, with owners encouraged to apply for grants online. The Chamber has set up a committee to evaluate applications, which will include information on how the money will be used, and award those most worthy.

The shirt’s Logo Design features the “Won’t Blow Over” slogan superimposed over an image of the Lethbridge Viaduct. The Chamber also aims to help businesses reopen over the coming months, alongside the provincial Alberta Biz Connect program. Campaigns like this, often using printing services to create custom items, can be crucial in providing support for local organizations during hard times. Kim Peters, owner of Fully Promoted, expressed the importance of the grants:

“I have heard several stories from friends and colleagues that they just missed the qualification for government aid, and I hate to see these folks fall through the cracks.”

The Won’t Blow Over campaign will be accepting grant applications until September 19, with the selections announced at the Chamber’s Business of the Year Awards, being held in October. T-Shirts can be purchased online.
