Lethbridge improvisers to present quest

Lethbridge-based Theatre Outré will be presenting Trebl-Quest this August, a unique improvised musical with a fantasy theme.

The comedy event is inspired by classic fantasy stories in the style of Lord of the Rings and Dungeons and Dragons. On-stage improvisers will take suggestions from the audience to help craft the narrative, including coming up with original songs on the spot. The performance will be narrated by David Gabert and feature local comedic talents such as Mark Ogle, Jon Kirsch, and Katrina Violet. Promotional material emphasizes the fantasy and musical theme:

“Join the story of disaparate [sic] adventurers as their journey on a quest shaped by your suggestion and forged through song. Will they bond and defeat the great evil that threatens the land or will their songs fall flat and lead to ruin?”

Improvised comedy events like this are a popular alternative to traditional stand-up and are often advertised through poster printing and viral social media clips. Theatre Outré also hosts regular improv shows through its ImpromptOu arm, with formats such as Drunk Improv and the improvised soap opera Gomorrah. The event is hosted by Good Times Comedy Club, which describes itself as the city’s only independent comedy space, and regularly hosts both amateur and professional comedians.

TreblQuest will take place at Good Times Comedy Club on the evening of August 15.
