Lethbridge guild to hold Festival of Quilts

The Lethbridge Centennial Quilters Guild will be bringing back its biggest annual event this June with the 2023 Festival of Quilts.

The event features a variety of displays and demonstrations aimed at both quilters and lovers of handmade goods. Quilts will be available for purchase and raffle. There will be a “Merchant Mall” section featuring over a dozen vendors in a variety of areas, including Lethbridge Sewing Centre, Dragon Heart Quilt Shop, and WonderFil Specialty Threads.

There will also be a number of workshops held at the event aimed at quilters, including an in-demand stitchery workshop hosted by expert Wallis Allen. Other events over the course of the weekend include a drawing for gift baskets, a show by the Fiber Arts Network, and a special exhibit on Indigenous quilts.

The festival is hosted by the Lethbridge Centennial Quilters Guild, which gathers together local crafters for monthly meetings, as well as special events designed to celebrate both traditional and modern quilting. The group uses tools such as poster printing and custom bookmarks to help advertise and provide more information on their shows. The Guild will also be raising money for the Chinook Regional Hospital Foundation through the sale of special quilted post cards.

The 2023 Festival of Quilts will take place at the Lethbridge College Gym on June 16 and 17.
