Lethbridge fest invites visitors to Discover Downtown

The Discover Downtown Lethbridge Festival is coming this summer, urging southern Alberta residents to learn what the downtown core has to offer.

The event will feature at least 20 businesses setting up stalls downtown and offering a taste of their services and products, including those which do not have a regular physical location. Confirmed participating businesses include Decor Out The Door, the Slice Bar and Grill, the Purple Hippo Boutique and 4 Elements Massage.

The festival will be a ticketed event with 100 people admitted per hour to reduce crowding. Live entertainment may also be provided through the local Buskers Association. The event was rescheduled from earlier in the year due to inclement weather.

The event will be held in association with the Galt Museum & Archives. In addition to potentially hosting stalls, the museum will also benefit from the festival, as funds raised through the event will go towards restoration and renovation of Discovery Hall, the museum’s central exhibit space. Public markets and spaces like this can help to encourage foot traffic to downtown spaces, as well as allowing small businesses to connect with customers and each other, often trading Business Cards and other contact information.

The Discover Downtown Lethbridge Festival will take place on July 13 at the Galt Museum & Archives Viewing Gallery or patio, depending on weather.
