Musicians and DJs from the Lethbridge area and beyond will be digitally coming together this weekend to hold a unique online concert, with the goal of raising money for local food banks.
The organizing committee of the Lethbridge Electronic Music Festival (LEMF) will be putting together the fundraiser, which will be broadcast on digital platform Twitch. It is its first time organizing such an event.
The online concert will run for over ten hours and be highlighted by Vancouver’s DJ Smoothie, Robbie C of Calgary, and local Lethbridge musicians like Sky Millz, DJ Marty Funkhauser, and Def Conn. Founded in 2012, the LEMF is usually a free in-person event that aims to highlight EDM and other popular styles of electronic music. Concerts like this are typically advertised through poster printing services.
The concert will be encouraging donations of both money and non-perishable food to the Interfaith Food Bank Society of Lethbridge. The food bank runs programs such as monthly food hampers and daily supplements as well as clothing vouchers and education programs on cooking and choosing fresh and healthy food on a limited budget. The food bank has recently also ventured into online streaming with a weekly ‘Seed to Supper’ video course.
The LEMF fundraiser will be broadcast on Twitch on May 2, starting from 2pm MST and running until midnight.
