What's Happening in Lethbridge, AB…

Lethbridge downtown hosts Halloween bash

Lethbridge residents who are young or young at heart recently had an opportunity to come out and have some Halloween fun.

The Lethbridge Downtown Revitalization Zone got the holiday off to a great start with their first ever Halloween celebration. According to BRZ’s Melissa Belter, this “Downtown Spooktacular” was something that has been in the idea phase for the past few years, and she was really pleased to see it become a reality.

Those who came to the party got to take part in a costume contest, a comic book launch and a pumpkin carving contest, and there were several door prizes that were given away. Downtown businesses were encouraged to take on the festive theme and decorate their store fronts.

The comic book that was introduced to the public for the first time was a collection of ghost stories from the local area. A book binding company can help to produce items like this. Titled ““Deathbridge: Tales of the Strange from Lethbridge, AB”, it was written by Belinda Crowson, who is an educator with the Galt Museum. Ms. Crowson noted that she hopes it will become a serial, with new a new issue being released each year.

Funds raised through the sale of the book will be used to help aid in the construction of an interpretive centre in the area of the city that is known as Chinatown, as this will preserve the history of the people who lived there.
