Fiesta Extravaganza, a travelling summer festival inspired by Filipino culture, will be making its debut in Lethbridge this summer.
The festival offers a variety of musical acts, cultural performances, local celebrities, food, drink, and crafts, all reflecting southeast Asian inspiration. Visitors can participate in traditional games and interactive booths, as well as entering raffles for special prizes. This year’s edition of the event, also known as the “Festival of Smiles” will also include a farmers’ market and job fair at select locations. The touring event is in its 7th year of existence and this year is adding Lethbridge to its regular schedule as well as Brampton, Ontario, joining cities such as Toronto, Surrey, and Montreal.
The Lethbridge event will feature a “Battle of the Bands” competition allowing the best local groups to duke it out on stage for the entertainment of listeners. There will be vendors selected from online applications from across southern Alberta, and a bevy of local employers featured in the Job Fair. Attendees at fairs such as this often prepare through business card printing, keeping a CV updated, and having a professional outfit prepared. The festival is hosted in co-operation with local Filipino cultural groups as well as other sponsors.
The 2024 Lethbridge edition of Fiesta Extravaganza will take place at Henderson Lake on July 20 and 21.
