Boots and Roots fundraiser rescheduled

A planned country music-based fundraiser in Lethbridge for local air ambulance service STARS will still be going ahead after missing a scheduled March date due to coronavirus concerns.

Established in 2016, Boots and Roots raises money through tickets to a special concert and live dinner. This year’s event is set to be headlined by local singer Trevor Panczak, an Alberta-based country artist whose songs ‘Cheap Shades’ and ‘For a Girl’ were both top 50 hits.

Panczak has opened for artists like Keith Urban, Willie Nelson and Kacey Musgraves and performed as a headlining act across western and northern Canada. He is passionate about charity, and has helped raise approximately $500,000 across five years. Dinner will be provided by Prime Catering.

The event will also feature a silent auction and raffles for various items aimed to raise additional money. Proceeds will go to STARS, an air ambulance group that provides life-saving services in rural Alberta. Fundraisers like this are often advertised with tools like banner printing and promotional products. STARS boasts that 62.9% of donations go to hiring talented pilots and medics, with the rest going to tools and increasing services.

Boots and Roots was originally scheduled for March 20 in the Grand Ballroom at the Lethbridge Lodge. Organizers now say they are hoping for the event to take place on June 5, pending ongoing developments.
