One of the staples of springtime in Leduc, the Black Gold Rodeo, will be returning this year featuring another round of cowboys and carnival-esque fun.
The heart of the weekend is the Pro Rodeo, with cowboys competing in competitions like the Saddle Bronc, Bareback Riding, and Bull Riding, where competitors try to stay on a wild animal for eight seconds. There will also be women's competitions in breakaway roping and barrel racing, as well as team showdowns where pairs show off their roping skills. Complementing the pro event will be a “Rodeo of Smiles” for children with special needs from the Leduc area, with a petting zoo, mascots and games.
The weekend will also feature a carnival atmosphere, with rides and a traditional midway open throughout the event. An adults-only cabaret concert, hosted on Saturday night, is one of the most popular annual events. There will be a parade that morning, going along Blackgold Drive, with nearby roads closed for a staging area. There will also be a trade fair featuring over 180 booths from local businesses, that draws up to 25,000 people per day. Businesses at events like this often use eye-catching Signs and banner printing to help stand out.
The 2025 Black Gold Rodeo will take place at William F. Lede Park in Leduc from May 29 to June 1.
