The competition will feature four days of competition across three rinks, in categories based on age and experience, ranging from Novice and U11 to STAR Senior skaters. The competitors will be representing skate clubs from across Alberta, as well as guests from the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, British Columbia and more. Skaters must submit their planned routine including music before the Invitational begins.
The top finishers in each category will receive medals. Competitions often use trophy shops and Print services to create rewards and mementos for participants. The event is hosted under the auspices and rules of Skate Canada, and all coaches must be appropriately accredited. Skaters will be looking to build momentum and test out routines ahead of the 2026-27 competitive season.
Past editions of the Invitational have included online live streaming for each arena so supporters can watch from home. Proceeds from the competition will go towards future training camps and events to support young figure skaters in Alberta. Advertising for the Wild Rose Invitational states:

The 2026 Wild Rose Invitational will take place from July 30 to August 3 at the Leduc Recreation Centre.
