The touring Western Canada Rib Fest will be appearing in Leduc this June, aiming to highlight the best grillers from across the country and beyond.
The event will feature local pit crews offering their take on ribs, as well as other barbecue classics like pulled pork and sausage. Participating “ribbers” include the award-winning Billy Bones BBQ and Texas-based Silver Bullet Bar B Q. The festival will also feature live entertainment from local performers selected through an online application process, a marketplace full of area food and non-food vendors, and a family fun zone with activities aimed at younger visitors.
The festival will span across three days, with admission free to all. It is hosted in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Nisku-Leduc. The Western Canada Rib Fest tours across four provinces and one territory with a different stop each week, including Alberta locations like Red Deer, Grand Prairie, and St. Albert. Food events like this often use tools like flyer printing and social media to help reach a local audience of foodies. Promotional material for the Rib Fest Tour emphasizes on its contributions to the community, saying:
“The Western Canada Rib Fest Tour strives to unite communities, drive local economies, and support charitable causes. Our direction is to lead with a commitment to community, culinary excellence, sustainability, and inclusion.”
The Western Canada Rib Fest will be at the Leduc Recreation Centre from June 6 to 8.
