The Grand Slam of Curling will be returning to the Leduc area this fall for a Tour Challenge event, pitting some of Canada and the world’s top curlers against each other.
The event follows up the Canadian Open event held in the same venue the previous season. The Tour Challenge is the first of five events on the Grand Slam of Curling circuit, with rinks looking to start their journey towards representing their province or nation at the season’s end. It features a unique format compared to the other bonspiels, with a triple knockout bracket instead of a pool stage.
There will be Tier 1 tournaments for both men and women, as well as Tier 2 tournaments for up-and-coming curlers looking to move up the ranks. The winners of the Tier 2 tournaments will receive Invitations to major Grand Slam events later in the season. The event features both Canadian and international players, with last year’s winners including Kerri Einarson of Ontario and Bruce Mouat of Scotland.
The live competition will be televised on Sportsnet. Sporting events like this often use methods like flyer printing and radio advertising to drum up live attendance to help create an engaged crowd.
The 2025 Tour Challenge will take place at the Silent Ice Center in Nisku in the Leduc region from October 14 to 19.
