Open house held about Leducs new fire station

A second fire station is planned for the city of Leduc, and residents recently had an opportunity find out more about it.

On March 5, Members of the public got a chance to view presentations about the project, meet with representatives from the city and 52 Architecture, and express any concerns they have. The total cost for the new station is expected to be around $6.3 million.

More information was given about the site selection process. It was explained that it provides the best access to major routes, which go to all parts of the city – something that is considered vital, particularly in emergency situations. Its proximity to the main fire station is also important, as the new one will not be independently operational.

The issue of noise was also discussed. It was noted that all operations will take place in front of the building, there will be traffic light preemption so that the vehicles will not remain in the area long with their sirens running, and training will take place at the Leduc Protective Services Building. All of these points will help to minimize any noise and inconvenience to residents.
