Library opens its doors in Leduc

The city of Leduc has a brand new and expanded library building where people can attend a meeting, borrow reading materials and other items, use a computer or just relax with a good book.

The centre, which opened on February 2nd, houses the library’s collection of Books and other materials, as well as a new children’s area and rooms for meetings and programming. The new building has over 18,000 square feet of space, and its many windows make it bright and sunny.

Those wishing to enter the building may do so through the Alex Arena, as the old access point will no longer be available for use. A poster printing firm will be able to create promotional materials that let patrons know about the new building, its hours, and the entrance location.

According to the director of library services, Carla Frybort, the old building was closed on January 30th and the collections were moved to their new home. After that, the furniture was disassembled then put back together in the new library. She also notes that she has been talking to and collecting feedback from library patrons about the building, and so far it has all been positive.

The old library is still standing and will still be put to use. It will be the home for several different Leduc city department offices.
