The new school, which will cater for children of kindergarten to grade nine ages, will be built on the west side of Leduc and is expected to open in 2016.
The announcement comes after it was revealed that $503 million in funding is to be provided by the government of Alberta for new school projects over the next few years.
A total of seven new schools are planned for the Edmonton area, one of which will be the new establishment in Leduc.
Features of the building will include advanced heating, air conditioning, and ventilation systems that will provide improved air quality and circulation for pupils and staff. These additions are designed to create an environment which provides healthy learning and working conditions.
Printing services will no doubt see increased business as items like Stationery, Business Cards, Posters, and Banners are generated for use in the new schools.
Premier Redford states that her government was elected under the assumption that it would continue to help Alberta develop. The funding supplied for education infrastructure is a key aspect of that commitment to develop the province. Redford said:
“This is about more than bricks and mortar – it’s about building strong communities so all our kids get the best possible start in life. By investing in schools today, we are investing in ourselves and our province.”
The new schools expected in the Edmonton area are set to provide places for 4,950 students across all grades.
