Leduc residents encourage to give the gift of life

Residents of Leduc have been asked to take a few minutes from their busy days to make a donation that could, quite literally, be a gift of life to people in the community and across the country.

The Canadian Blood Services mobile blood donor clinic will be rolling into the Leduc Recreation Centre, where it will set up shop for the day. Everyone is encouraged to come out and participate, and the donations will be used for everything from helping people with cancer to premature babies, those who have been in a serious accident, and those with immune system disorders. Anyone who plans on coming to the clinic can book their space ahead of time.

Anyone who plans on making a donation is asked to bring along their ID and also their blood donor card, if they have one. There will be a questionnaire for new donors to fill out, which will be followed by a brief interview, blood pressure test, and a check to make sure a potential donor is not anemic. The actual time needed to give blood is short, and once the donation is complete, an individual will be encouraged to rest and enjoy the snack provided before they return to their daily activities. Reusable pop-up Banners, which fold compactly and take up little space, can be prepared by a printer for this type of event.

The clinic will be held on Friday, October 6, and the organizers are hoping Leduc will continue to be generous. More information can be found on the Canadian Blood Services website.
