What's Happening in Leduc, AB…

Leduc residents who need to commute to Edmonton for work or school are continuing to make good use of the recently opened C-line bus service.
As of July, more than 30,500 riders used this public transportation service and the number continued to grow in August.

At a recent Capital region board meeting, it was announced that there has been a 46 per cent increase in passenger numbers since last year, when 41,600 people got on board. It was noted that this is the third highest transportation priority for the region, with the expansions of Edmonton’s LRT and Sherwood Park’s system taking the first and second spots.

The buses begin their schedule at 6:00am in Leduc, and make their final run at 7:00pm.

In order to save money, the C-line currently uses buses leased from Edmonton, and contracts drivers, storage, and maintenance workers from the city.

Companies which provide printing services have also helped to create signage that tells riders about the stops and schedules, and they have also printed the advertisements that are on display in each bus.

According to a representative of the Capital region board, one of the factors which has helped to convince more riders to use the service is the free Wi-Fi provided on each bus.

The system is run as a partnership between the city and the province. The funding recovery rate is currently at 27 per cent, and it is hoped that as the number of riders increases, so too will this rate.
