The Leduc Rep has just begun hosting its annual Newspaper Auction, a yearly success supporting the Black Gold Health Foundation. While charities vary each year, the newspaper auction is used to collect funds to support local organizations.

The newspaper auction represents a clever way that Print companies can use to both become in charitable events and promote their services using business to business marketing strategies. In the Leduc Rep’s auction, generous merchants donate bidding items for the silent auction and item descriptions then published in select issues of the Rep so that the local community can read about them. This year 15 merchants have come forward with bidding items. For businesses who are not newspaper subscribers but still wish to bid, the items are left on display for viewing and bidding.

Interested bidders then place their bid and successful bidders are contacted for payment and then published in a select issue of the Rep. While the Rep uses its own printed newspaper to support its auction bidding, other printers can use methods such as flyer printing to support similar events. The newspaper auction encourages both readership, business to business marketing, and allows the local newspaper publisher to become involved in a local community event.

The charity supported this year is The Black Gold Health Foundation, which supports public health care centres in Beaumont, Leduc and Thorsby, as well as home care.

Last year Rep’s local auction raised $3,494 in funds to support the District Victim Services. This year’s final winners will be published in a selected July issue of Leduc Rep.Get a Free Quote for Print
