What's Happening in Leduc, AB…

It was a long and grueling six days, but the slow-pitch game that started in Leduc on July 8th finally finished on Sunday, meaning the players are now free to enjoy a well-earned rest.

The participants were looking to break the official world record for the longest slow-pitch game; and with over 700 innings, taking a total of 144 hours and six minutes, it is thought that they have achieved their goal.

The players wanted to raise some money for a good cause and have some fun while doing so. With the previous record currently sitting at 115 hours, they have every reason to feel confident in their success, although the record is yet to be verified by Guinness.

After the last pitch was thrown and the game ended, the players, along with their fans and supporters, broke into cheers and applause. The champagne flowed and 144 balloons, one for each hour played, filled the air.

When those who took part were asked if they would ever do it again, some said yes, some no, and some could only sigh with relief when they thought of how good it was going to feel to have a long soak in a hot tub.

Every person who played wore a bright t-shirt which had been made for them by a Print company. Each one proudly carried the words “Guinness World Records Official Attempt”.

It is expected to be several months before the record can be confirmed, but the players are sure they have met the challenge. Funds raised will go to RiseUpHouse, which supports women affected by domestic violence.
