Leduc holiday tradition to ride again

The biggest annual parade in Leduc will be back for another year, as the annual Santa Claus Parade kicks off the holiday season.

The parade route will see floats and performers representing different organizations and businesses from throughout Leduc, concluding in a visit from the Big Man in Red. Floats are selected through an online application process, with anyone allowed to submit their idea. Attendees can receive free photos with Santa, as well as treats and hot chocolate at three locations throughout the downtown district leading up to the parade. There will also be light-up wands for sale to create a festive atmosphere as the parade travels through town at dusk.

The annual parade is hosted by the Downtown District business bureau, with the goal of encouraging holiday shopping in the area, and relies on the efforts of volunteers. Parades like this often use methods like sign and banner printing to help identify the floats, marching bands, and other spectacles that make their way across the parade grounds. The District will also be sponsoring the Mistletoe Crafts and Baking Sale on the same day, hosted by the Leduc and District Seniors Centre, which will be open on the afternoon before the parade.

The 2024 Leduc Santa Claus Parade will take place on the evening of November 30, with the marshalling area located along 47th Street.
