Leduc Golf Club will soon be opening its new clubhouse, a spacious building that can be used year-round.

The new building is the result of a land transfer agreement between the Leduc Golf and Country Club and the City of Leduc, which saw course lands transferred to city ownership for improvements and upgrades. The new clubhouse will have a banquet facility that can seat up to 225 people, which will allow for larger golf tournaments to be held on the course, as well as large gatherings like weddings.

Large events, whether by invitation or advertised through tools like poster printing, can be a major source of income for country clubs and other organizations.

The project cost a total of $4.9 million and faced construction delays due to a previously unknown water tank and the coronavirus pandemic, but it is now near opening. The hope is for the clubhouse to allow course lands to be used year-round, including as a “winter wilderness centre”, with a public indoor space to warm up and enjoy food and drink.

The club currently runs winter activities like cross-country skiing, as well as special events like the pro-am “Global Rumble in Leduc” tournament and golf leagues for men, women, senior and youth players.

The Leduc Golf and Country Club is expected to open its new clubhouse in June.
