Leduc Festival of Trees has another successful year

The Leduc Chamber of Commerce recently held its annual Festival of Trees to raise money for local charitable organizations, and it was deemed a big success by local observers.

Over 9,000 people came out to view the trees and take part in the other activities of the day. There were 36 trees, which had been decorated by local families, businesses and not-for-profit groups. These were auctioned off during live and silent auctions, and together they raised $7,850 for 24 different local charities.

Those who came out for the event got a chance to vote for their fan favourite, and the winner was the tree that had been decorated by the City Life Church, which was handed $100. Other groups that earned some extra income from the festivities included the Karma Concert Foundation, which ran the Santa’s Workshop station, and the Black Gold Citizens on Patrol/ Night Hawks, which operated the coat check.

The food bank also received 656 pounds of donated consumables, as well as $827 in cash contributions.

According to the Chamber of Commerce, this was the best year ever for the Festival of Trees.
