The Leduc Drama Society will be holding a unique open house event with the aim of providing local people with a taste of what the stage has to offer.
The open house event will take place as part of the Culture Days series going on throughout Leduc. Visitors will be able to come and go as they like, with family-friendly performances scheduled for earlier in the day and more mature fare later on. On stage will be a mixture of monologues, musical numbers, dancing, one-act plays and other short pieces designed to highlight the diversity of live theatre. Attendance will be free, with a pay-what-you-can donation policy to help support the Society’s upcoming season.
Visitors will also be able to get a sneak preview of that season, with some of the Open House performances being excerpts from upcoming full plays and musicals. Already announced for the 2022-23 season is “Crimson Cap Ladies: A Haunted Adventure”, a mystery play by local playwright Chris McKerracher, which will run from November 18 to 27. The group typically performs three to five plays a year from a mixture of genres.
Local productions like this are often a community affair, relying on volunteer efforts as well as support from local businesses such as hardware stores for set creation and Print shops for programs and promotional material.
The Leduc Drama Society’s Open House event will take place on October 1 at the Leduc Drama Society Playhouse.
