Youngsters looking to learn the basics of golf can learn with the pros in Leduc. An exciting golf program will aim to teach novice golfers the fundamentals of the game this summer in order to form a structured game.
The city will host the Leduc Junior Links Golf Scholarship this year at the Golf Country Club, with the programme running from May 28 to June 1. This has been an important yearly summer programme, designed especially to draw in young amateurs and beginners looking to learn and perfect their game.
The five-day event will be marketed as a grass roots training course to help develop a young golfer’s fundamentals and habits. Participants will receive hands-on lessons, lasting a full 90 minutes, from CPGA (Canadian Professional Golf Association) professionals and will finish each lesson with a nine-hole wrap up. For the benefit of the players, all balls and golf clubs are supplied in the program.
A great deal of printed publications are expected to help promote the annual golf program. Local flyer printing will help advertize the event, which is already in high demand in the Leduc area. Publications will target the 12 - 15 year age range and only 14 participants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. The price of participation will be $100 and parents will have to act fast to secure a spot!
Participants will be eligible for a free junior membership program but must submit an essay to the city explaining why they deserve a free membership. Winning essays may be published by the Golf and Country Club.
