A touring obstacle course run will head to Leduc this July, providing runners with a chance to take on challenges, including running through a wall of foam.
The 5K Foam Fest challenges participants to cross a five-kilometre distance with 22 obstacles, including an inflatable waterslide, swinging punching Bags, a forest of spider webs and mud pits. Runners are able to take on the course at their own pace, including running or walking or skipping obstacles. The run will also be raising money for Make-A-Wish Canada, with $2 from each entry fee going towards the charity, and participants are encouraged to fundraise further for the cause using the event’s online platform. Runners will begin in waves to prevent overcrowding and to allow for everyone to go at their own pace.
The Foam Fest will have a surrounding event including family-friendly music and a “kids zone” for children under seven. At the finish line, runners can celebrate at a beer garden environment with local food options and other vendors. The Foam Fest event has become a popular challenge for runners and other athletes, with 21 events held annually across Canada and Australia. Athletic challenges like 5K runs often use tools like flyer printing and social media photos to help attract interest and raise money for charities.
The Leduc edition of the 5K Foam Fest will take place on July 2, 2022 at William F. Lede Park.
