An Edmonton music festival will be looking to provide the area with a break from the winter cold this January for hot music with the Winterruption YEG Festival.
The festival will feature dozens of musical artists from across North America. Artists announced so far include Polaris Prize winner Debby Friday, July Talk frontman Peter Dreams, Montreal hip hop artist Waahli, and Latin-tinged group Making Movies. There will also be many local bands and artists taking the stage, including the group Concealer, which are reuniting for the first time in nearly eight years. In addition to music, there will be a screening of the documentary Elephant 6 Recording Co, an appearance by author and comedian Dave Hill, and much more.
Winterruption is designed to showcase local Alberta acts, as well as attract music lovers from nearby areas such as Leduc and Fort Saskatchewan. Indie wrestling promotion Love Pro Wrestling will also be putting on their unique brand of squared circle action. Music festivals such as this often use tools such as flyer printing and local radio to help raise awareness of the events and artists featured. Winterruption will also feature free concerts and other events to help make its programming accessible to the community.
The 2024 edition of Winterruption YEG will take place at various venues in Edmonton from January 24 to 28.
