The New Sarepta and District Agricultural Society will be holding its annual Crooked Ice Jugspiel in April, putting a different taste on the charity curling bonspiel.
The modified game is similar to curling, but with frozen milk jugs instead of stones. Participants can even bring their own brooms from home, and many dress in costume along with their team of four. No experience is required, and the goal is fun and socialization. In addition to the main game, there will be a number of activities, such as an airplane toss where participants can win donated merchandise and event tickets, and all-night dancing. There will be an all-day beer garden area and silent auction, as well as a full dinner for those registered.
Funds raised from the event will go towards the Agricultural Society, which hosts community events and encourages agricultural learning and games. The annual Jugspiel has a festive atmosphere and aims to attract people from nearby cities and towns like Leduc and Edmonton. Community events like this often use methods such as flyer printing to reach new attendees and help the event grow.
The 2024 Crooked Ice Jugspiel will take place on April 6 at the New Sareptra Agriplex on April 6. Teams are encouraged to register in advance. The event is for those ages 18 and above.
