Parents in Langley who want to give their children a chance to have fun learning about where their food comes from are invited to sign them up for one of two summer camps.
The Langley Environment Partners Society has teamed up with Glorious Organics and Laurica Farms to host the summer day camps, each of which has its own, unique theme. Suitable for children ages 6 to 12 years, they will combine education with hands-on activities. Comb binding can be used to produce items such as campers’ Journals, logbooks and coloring Books for the kids who take part in events such as this.
The first week has the theme “Farm Fields” and offers a chance to learn more about the cycle of plant growth, all the way from planting to harvest. The children will also build a tree fort, create their own unique pieces of tree art and take part in a specially arranged scavenger hunt.
The second week is “Farm Friends”. During this session, the kids will get up close with all the animals on the farm, ranging from sheep to pigs and chickens. They will also find out more about the farm’s creatures that many may not think of, such as worms, frogs, bees and more.
The Ready, Set, Grow! camps are scheduled for Jul 11th to the 15th and July 18th to July 22nd at Laurica Farm. Further details and a registration link can be found on Eventbrite.
