Some of the most talented under-15 hockey players in Alberta will be gathering in Leduc this February for a weekend full of on-ice action.
The Alberta Elite Hockey League U15 AAA Showcase began in 2022 as a way to showcase the top talents in the league, and has been hosted in Leduc each year. Teams include the hometown LJAC Oil Kings, who will be taking on the Calgary Northstars, Red Deer Rebels, and Maple Leaf Scott Pump on consecutive teams. Other teams represent Edmonton, Sherwood Park, Fort Saskatchewan, and more. Each team will play multiple games across the weekend, all of which contribute to the AEHL’s regular-season standings.
All in all, the weekend will feature 30 games across four days, with weekend passes or individual game tickets available for low prices. Showcases such as this and weekend-long tournaments are popular in junior sports as a way for top talent to meet each other and appeal to scouts at the next level. These events often use trophies and banner printing to recognize winners or give participants something to remember the event by.
The 2023 Alberta Elite Hockey League U15 AAA Showcase will take place at the Leduc Recreation Centre from February 1 to 4, with play taking place at the Chemco Arena and Wilhauk Beef Jerky Arena. Matches will also be streamed online on FloHockey.
