Foodies of Leduc making the most of European cuisine

Gourmands in Leduc now have an extra reason to smile as a new food truck serving authentic traditional dishes from Holland has arrived in the area. The van has been serving delicious fare to the patrons of several local farmers’ markets and other venues throughout the area.

The Little Amsterdam Snack Bar is the first licensed food truck in Leduc, and serves such authentic dishes as Frickandel and Oliebollen, which are common fast foods in Holland. Although they are little known here, they are quickly becoming very popular and are a welcome change from the usual hotdogs and hamburgers.

A Print company has produced a menu to let customers know just what tasty treats are on offer each day.

With 10 new additions to the fleet in this year alone, the food trucks are fast becoming a common sight in the region. It is believed that a large part of the increase in their popularity has been the advent of social media. People can go online to find out about the newest menu items and where the truck will be on any given day. Owners can also send out alerts to let their customers so they don’t miss out.

This season, owners and operators of these rolling restaurants will give the public a taste of their wares at the annual What the Truck event. It’s a chance for people to come out and try samples of food form several different vendors all at the same time.
