Competition to bring out the best young artists in Leduc

The 7th annual Aspiring Young Artists Competition and Art Show is taking place over two days next month in Leduc.

Hosted by the Leduc Art Club, the competition is open to students from grades 10, 11 and 12. Each artist can only submit three pieces and must be sponsored by an art teacher. A total of 100 works of art will be accepted for the show, all of which must be ready to hang on a pegboard hook and can be no larger than 26 by 38 inches.

There is $1,700 in prize money to be won, with awards going to the top three in each grade. There is also an honorable mention, Best in Show, Most Unique Concept, best in various genres such as landscape, still life and portrait, the People’s Choice Award, and the 50th anniversary Leduc Black Rodeo Heritage Award. The awards will be given out at a special reception on June 3 beginning at 3:00 PM.

This is an opportunity for Leduc students to showcase their talents and to help them consider a career in graphic design.
