A Leduc tradition will return this spring, as the Kelly Lamrock Memorial Tournament once again hits the links.
The upcoming event will be the 13th such tournament, but the first in three years, following a hiatus to allow for social distancing. The tournament is frequented by the municipal government’s clients, vendors and employees, and was initially started as a way to give back to people who do business with the city. In 2007, the tournament was renamed after long-time municipal employee Kelly Lamrock, and made into a charity event. This year is expected to have a full field after the event’s absence, and 2019’s successful edition, which raised $16, 000.
This year’s tournament aims to raise at least $10,000, which will take the event’s all-time total past $100,000. All proceeds go towards the Alberta Cancer Society. The tournament will begin with a breakfast before teeing off in a “Texas Scramble” format, with the addition of special prize holes, a putting green challenge, hole-in-one prizes and a concluding dinner.
