A popular charity run in Leduc County town Calmar will return this fall through a virtual event.

Nowhere to Run is now in its fourth year as a charity run that aims to raise money for both Calmar Secondary School and local mental health charities. The online event will feature a moderator and a series of speakers who will provide encouragement and an overview of the causes.

The digital format will allow participants to run or walk a route of their choosing, whether it be in Calmar, Leduc, Calgary or further afield. Organizers have already suggested that local sponsors will come aboard, which also helps to offset costs and provide more funding.

Participants can run or walk a distance of one, two or five kilometres, and make a donation of any size they choose. Last year’s run, which also included a 10 kilometre distance, featured about 120 participants, a big jump from previous editions. The fundraiser has raised $5,000 over the past four years. Charity runs are a popular means of raising money for a good cause, often advertised through means like flyer printing and brochure printing. This year has seen the rise of the virtual run as a way to safely and flexibly encourage participation.

Online registration for Nowhere to Run is now available, with dates to be announced later.
