Residents will soon have a chance to enjoy some time in the great outdoors while they lend a helping hand to some fine feathered friends from the local area.
The Christmas Bird Count is back for another year, and it is a family friendly holiday activity. To participate, all that someone needs to do is to download the tally sheet that has been designed for counting the species they see, and then sit back and relax for 30 minutes while they count the birds they see. After this, they fill in their sheets with the species they have seen and their numbers, and then submit it to the organizers once it is complete.
The activity is being held as part of the Audubon Christmas Bird Counts, which are used to help determine migration patterns, population levels, and other information that can be of use to scientists. They take place all over the world, and the data is used in research, conservation and other areas. Poster printing can be used to create materials that let the public know when an event like this is taking place and also how they can participate.
