Edmonton activity to help expand food forest

Since 2013, Root for Trees has planted over 323,400 shrubs and trees, and this Edmonton initiative has a project on the way for August.

Ormsby is home to a food forest, which is a stand of tree species that are grown for their fruit or nuts. This green space will be getting some love and care during the Food Forest planting activity, and all help will be appreciated.

The participants will be able to learn about the native fruit- and nut-bearing trees that can be grown in an urban or suburban environment, which they may wish to install them on their own property. After this, it will be time to plant the young trees. The tools and instructions will be provided, and the new grove will also be a beacon for pollinators such as butterflies, birds, moths and other beneficial creatures. The session will run for two and half hours.

Event organizers can count on a printing services company to help build public interest in an upcoming activity like this, and it will also be able to craft small Promotional Products to hand out to thank the volunteers for their efforts.

This opportunity to help expand the food forest at Ormsby will begin at 10:00 am on August 24th. The volunteers will meet up at 184th Street NW and 62B Avenue.
