Printmaking celebrations on the cards in Calgary

The 2012 Not-so-mini Exhibition and Exchange will take place at the Artist Proof Gallery in about a month’s time and will run right through until Christmas. Submissions are being accepted until November 23.

The exhibition is being presented by the Alberta Printmakers' Society and there will be an opening reception for the exhibition on November 30 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm. Guests are likely to have the opportunity to meet the artists who have been chosen to take part.

Printmakers taking part are asked to submit 12 prints, each sized 15" x 11", and pay a fee of $10 for Society members or $15 for non-members. In exchange for submitting 12 Copies, each printmaker receives 10 prints created by 10 of the printmakers. The other two Copies are kept by the society and sold to raise money for their programs and workshops. The artists will receive 60% of the sales from subsequent sales of items and will receive one Print fewer from another artist.

In addition to being important to the artists taking part in the Exhibition and Exchange, the show will also allow those in the community to discover new and exciting printmakers. It will also give them a chance to purchase original prints to take home with them. With that in mind, no doubt the organizers of the event will be working with Calgary printing companies to spread the word to the community, perhaps through flyer and poster printing.

The exhibition will run from November 28 to December 22. For more information, contact Emma Sacco at 403-287-1056.
