The Water Lantern Festival is taking place next month in Calgary, and in several other Canadian cities as well. Proceeds will be donated to various local charities.
The aim of the festival is to celebrate life through lit floating paper lanterns. All ticket holders will receive a water lantern kit made of wood and rice paper. They will be given a marker so they can personalize their lanterns by writing messages or drawing pictures on the outside. They will also receive a commemorative drawstring bag and a wristband. Children under the age of 15 will be given a LED flashlight.
The lanterns will be launched into the water between 9:00 and 10:00 PM. Before that, there will be live musical information, family-friendly activities, and food trucks on the site.
Tickets are available for certain prices. For adults, the cost is $43 in advance or $50 on the day. Youth tickets for children between the ages of 8 and 14 are $15.99 and younger children are admitted for free.
