Food bank to get help from Calgarys LGBT community

A special day of giving will give Calgary's LGBT community an opportunity to have fun while they lend their neighbours in need a helping hand.

The Calgary Food Bank works throughout the year to make sure no one in the city will have to go hungry. The volunteers at ‘Gay it Forward’ will be assembling food hampers, and the shift will begin at 5:35 pm.

The volunteers are asked to wear clothing that is suitable for the task at hand, and proper footwear is strongly recommended. Since there are no facilities to store personal belongings, they are also asked to leave these at home, if at all possible. There will be an orientation session before the work begins, and attendance in this portion of the activity is mandatory to participate in the project.

To help ensure that the food bank clients will have easy access to the building, the volunteers have been asked to park in the off-site lot. A shuttle service will take them from the volunteer area to the building where the helpers will be working, and a printing services company can prepare this sort of signage, along with many other styles.

This chance to make sure that everyone in the city will have food on their table has been scheduled for November 14. All assistance will be welcome.
