Community event kicks off festival season in Calgary

The Lilac Festival is returning to Calgary next month for one day.

The festival will take place on 4th Street between 13th Avenue and Elbow Drive and will start off with a parade. There will be over 500 vendors on hand to sell a variety of handmade arts and crafts, including jewelry, clothing and works of art. There will also be seven stages set up – five for music, one for dance and one just for children.

Among the musical guests that are set to appear at this year’s festival are The Pauls: a tribute to Paul McCartney and Paul Simon, Squanto, The Woodhouse Big Band, and Katie and the Wildfire. The dance stage will feature groups such as the Eastern Dance Studio, Rhythm of the Rockies and Samba Brazil, while the kids’ stage will have Mr. Rayz, School of Rock and the Springbank Dancers. In addition, buskers will be roaming around the festival grounds. Visitors can also enjoy food and drinks on several patios.

Vendors that participate in events like this often invest in printed products such as Banners and signage from Burnaby Print shops to draw attention to their booths.

The Lilac Festival will be held on June 3 from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission is free of charge. For the most current information, call 403-930-7802.
