Calgary invasive plant pull seeks helping hands
Introduced plant species may become invasive, and a hands-on Calgary environmental service project will help to keep them under control.
St. Patrick’s Island is about to get some TLC thanks to the efforts of the volunteers who register for the Invasive Plant Pull. No experience is needed to get involved, and the whole family is encouraged to sign up.
Attendees will learn how to identify invasive plants, and they will use the pullers and other tools provided to take on the task at hand. It will be an activity that’s intended to be both fun and relaxed, and there may be lots of laughter along the way. Everyone is asked to bring a water bottle as well as a pair of sturdy gardening gloves if they have them, and clothing that’s suitable for the weather is also highly recommended. Garbage bags and safety gear will be supplied, and the meet up point for the registrants will be near 656 Confluence Way SE .
Taking part in a community environmental service project can be highly rewarding. Many organizers choose to offer small promotional products such as fridge magnets, stickers, paper seed saving envelopes and other materials to their volunteers.
This chance to give Mother Nature some TLC is scheduled for August 8th. Everyone is asked to arrive at the venue's event board by no later than 9:30 am.
