Calgary’s Elbow Valley will soon be playing host to a summer athletic challenge, and the monies raised will benefit those living with mitochondrial disease.
The registration system for Tri for Evan is now open, and it has been named in honour of a young man living with mitochondrial disease. The triathlon will be a non-competitive activity for all ages, and there will be offerings for every member of the family.
Anyone who would like to get involved can take part in the triathlon, which will include a 20km cycle, 600m swim and a 5km run. These can be undertaken as a team or individually, and there will also be a race for the kids. The entry fee for the day includes access to a pre-race clinic, which will supply tips and advice for the racers.
Along with access to the clinic, those who register for the day will receive a T-shirt with a unique graphic design, as well as a finisher’s medal and other swag. The function will feature several adaptations to prevent the spread of COVID, and the participants will also need to fill out a pre-race screening questionnaire.
The date for Tri for Evan is July 18th, and its online listing includes an assortment of details for those interested. Everyone is encouraged to rise to the challenge and get involved in the fundraiser.
