A new program, launched in Calgary, is looking to match local artists with businesses who may have some unused space.
Calgary Arts Development and the Calgary Chamber of Commerce have teamed up to create the Artists in the Workplace program, which is based on an idea first proposed by local poet laureate Derek Beaulieu.
Beaulieu noted that it can be hard for an artist to find a space to engage in their creative work, and he hoped that businesses in the city might be willing to make some room for those who could make good use of any space they are currently not using themselves. He noted that he received positive responses from many who would be willing to accommodate an artist at a low rent or even no rent at all.
Projects like these can benefit from printed Presentation Folders containing information about the benefits such a program can bring to the companies who choose to get involved.
Adam Legge, the president and chief executive with the Chamber of Commerce, pointed out that this allows businesses to benefit from the creative flair that comes with having an artist working in the same space as their employees, and in fact, several studies have shown this to be the case.
Companies who participate may also be able to receive a break on their taxes for doing so.Get a Free Quote for Presentation Folders
