Bear pays surprise visit to Calgary neighborhood

A Calgary neighborhood recently had an unexpected furry visitor.

The city’s 911 service received a call from a driver who reported that he had spotted a bear in the area. Shortly after he made the call, the animal decided to climb into a tree.

When the authorities arrived on the scene, the bear was still there. After it was tranquilized, it was safely removed from its perch by using a bucket truck from the fire department. Fish and Wildlife officers checked the sleeping animal out to make sure it was unharmed, and then transported it to a safer place in the Foothills.

Brendon Cox, who is a spokesperson for Fish and Wildlife, noted that it might have come into the community while following a greenbelt or river, many of which are part of neutrally existing corridors for wild animals. A printer can use wide format printing methods can produce maps of these areas, so that those who live nearby will know if there is an increased chance that they may find an unexpected visitor in their own yard.

Mr. Cox further pointed out that homeowners can help to keep unwanted wild animals at bay by paying close attention to keeping their property free of anything that might attract them such as fallen fruit, putting their garbage as close as to the pick up time as possible, and keeping compost inside.
