More details released on Midland redevelopment

People can now get their first look at how the new Midland Oval Precinct might look this month.

The plans are part of an initiative to revamp the site in Midland and turn it into a more popular town centre area. The Precinct will link The Avenue at Midland Gate shopping centre to the Old Great Northern Highway.

Originally used as a recreation area, the need for a sports ground was made redundant with the introduction of other sports facilities around the City of Swan, and the council has since decided that the 11-hectare site would better serve the community as an extension of the town centre rather than green space.

The changes are set to bring thousands of new residential dwellings, as well as retail and office space and restaurants, to the area, in addition to a library.

The precinct will also have a public events space, following the success of recent events held in the area, such as Tropfest and Midlandia.

Full details can be found on the City of Swan council’s website, which includes a set of frequently asked questions and a video explaining the proposals.

The council could also use printing services to create a public exhibition of the plans, or information packs to send to residents.

The plans will be discussed by the council over the next two months.
