The local council has teamed up with a historical society to create a walking tour that celebrates Midland’s rich heritage.
Residents with an interest in local history can join this upcoming event. Joint organised by the City of Swan and the Midland and Districts Historical Society, the Midland Workshops Walking Tour will explore a key heritage area in the suburb.

Those embarking on the tour can learn about the history of the iconic Midland Workshops, once run by the Western Australian Government Railways. Knowledgeable guides from the Midland and Districts Historical Society will lead the tour, which includes visits to the workers wall, peace memorial, shunting yards, chief mechanical engineer’s office and more.
The walk is conducted entirely outdoors, so guests are asked to wear sufficient sun or rain protection and comfortable shoes. Drink fountains are posted along the walk, so bringing a water bottle is also advised. The tour is wheelchair accessible.
